Navigating the Premedical Journey

From picking courses and choosing a major to finding research opportunities and exploring extracurriculars, being a pre-med student requires substantial commitment and good long-term planning. Luckily, Harvard has many resources and organizations available that enable students to navigate these waters with the help and expertise of experienced advisors, faculty members, and other students. Among these resources are the Office of Career Services (which provides 1-on-1 advising for all aspects of pre-health, as well as detailed information regarding course planning), URAF (Undergraduate Research and Fellowships), concentration advisers, house tutors, Pre-Med Peer Liaisons (PPL PAFs) and more. Resources for Premedical Students

Premedical/Pre-health advisors provide services for Harvard College students and alumni pursuing health-related fields: human medicine (allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine), dental medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, and other health fields such as optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, and physical therapy.

The mission of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is to demystify and facilitate access to research and fellowships opportunities for Harvard College students, regardless of background. Through interacting with our office, students deepen their intellectual engagement, build skills transferable across future endeavors, and expand their personal horizons.

Goals for our Premedical Society

Support Academic Excellence
Encourage students to leverage resources provided on/off campus, like the Mignone Center for Career Success, and participate in study groups and mentoring to help pre-medical students excel in rigorous coursework and prepare for the MCAT and other academic milestones.
Foster Professional Development
Organize workshops, panels, and networking opportunities to connect students with professionals in the medical field and help build skills necessary for successful medical careers.
Promote Community and Collaboration
Create a supportive environment where pre-med students can connect, share experiences, and collaborate on projects and initiatives that enhance their personal and professional growth.
Encourage Health Advocacy and Service
Inspire students to engage in meaningful community service, health-related advocacy, and volunteer initiatives to make a positive impact on public health and develop compassionate leadership skills.
