Crimson medical mentorship Program

The Crimson Medical Mentorship Program is a program designed for high school students to receive an introduction to medicine and STEM. Students in the program will have the opportunity to meet physicians and biomedical scientists while understanding the inner workings of being a premedical student. To get involved, please reach out to bishoyibrahim@college.harvard.edu or jaileneramos@college.harvard.edu.

Dental Interest group

DIG, or the Dental Interest Group, of the Harvard Premedical Society fosters a supportive community for pre-dental students and any students interested in oral health at Harvard. As the central pre-dental group on campus, DIG seeks to engage students with real-life dental practices and dental professionals to deepen their knowledge of dentistry. We hold social events, information sessions with nearby dental schools, advocacy leadership, and more. You do not need to be pre-dental to join DIG-- it is open to any students interested in global oral health. Students interested in DIG should contact Nicole Farkouh or Jisung Lee to learn more about the group's mission and projects.

The Disaster and Emergency Medicine Interest Program

The Disaster and Emergency Medicine Interest Program is designed to help students explore their interests in both disaster and emergency medicine through arranged shadowing opportunities, guest lectures, and hands-on experiences in disaster and emergency simulations held at local hospitals. This program is open to all students-please reach out to Suhanee Mitragotri (suhaneemitragotri@college.harvard.edu) if you have any questions.

Peer premedical advising program

The Peer Premedical Advising Program, or PPA for short, pairs upperclassmen mentors with underclassmen mentees. Through both program wide events and one-on-one meetings, the mentors help guide their mentees through the process of being a premed, offering advice and help on any issues the mentee may be unsure of. PPA strives to accommodate all mentee applications in order to provide underclassmen students all the support they need in their premedical journey in an attempt to make the pathway accessible to all. Mentor/mentee match only happens at the beginning of an academic year, but if you are interested in participating, make sure to sign up next fall.

Physician mentoring program

The Physician Mentoring Program provides opportunities for Harvard students to shadow physicians in the greater Boston area. This program allows prospective medical students to develop strong relationships with physicians and engage in valuable shadowing experiences. Interested students can apply in mid-September, and selected applicants are connected with mentor physicians based on interest and availability.

prescriptions

Prescriptions is a semesterly publication that serves as an intersection between the arts and medicine at Harvard College. The founding publication of the Harvard Premedical Society, Prescriptions showcases students' reflection on medicine through creative writing, poetry, illustrations, and more - shedding insight into contributors' lives as aspiring doctors and the influence of medicine in their communities. Although we encourage submissions surrounding each issue’s topic, writers are free to write about anything that loosely pertains to medicine, pre-med life, healthcare, the body, etc. For examples of past works and more information about prescriptions, visit https://www.harvardprescriptions.com/

surgery interest group

The Surgery Interest Group is a collection of students interested in learning about surgery as a potential profession. This group works with surgeons at Massachusetts General Hospital to gain observational experience in the operating room (COVID-permitting), while also engaging in panels to interact with residents and ask questions about their academic path and current lifestyle. Other activities include surgical simulations and suturing workshops. Members can join by applying directly to be in the Surgery Interest Group!
